Lebanon Midway And Tony Roper Memorial Planning An Exciting Event With Cash Money Late Models-Strong Purses For Support Classes.

Lebanon,Mo.- The Lebanon Midway Speedway is looking forward to hosting The 18th Annual Tony Roper Memorial on Sunday evening May 27th as The Newly Formed Cash Money Super Dirt Late Model Series makes its 1st Appearance to the Lebanon facility.

" In talking with the Cash Money Series, they are expecting a great field of Late Models as several of these drivers have had success at The Midway in other classes along with Late Models also. Late Model rookies such as Mark Simon, Sundance Keepper, Shawn Whitman, The Oklahoma Outlaw Eddie Martin, Local Street Stock front runner Darrin Crisler and others have tasted success at the Midway while drivers and Late Model hard Chargers Leslie Essary, Justin Wells, Brandon Hunter, Chris Hawkins and current point leader Jon Driskell know the fast way around the area tracks plus the return of local resident "Brandon B-Mac" McCormick will make this race and event well worth attending." The list of entries keeps growing as the local talent wants to remember Tony Roper and take home the hardware from the 30 lap feature event. Even area runner Don Cloyd has put together a Cash Money Late Model to compete as Don helped Tony as the gas man on his ASA and All-Pro Asphalt Late Models to help remember his friend from Fair Grove.

The Series helps bring back the excitement by starting the racing program with the fast and furious dash for cash sponsored by Double Down Asphalt featuring the top 5 finishers from there last event at West Plains bringing speed to the start of the night.

Tony was always popular with the kids and Midwest Sheet Metal who were friends and competed against Tony also will be giving away a boy's and girl's bike. This new Late Model Series has a spec shock rule which allows the drivers to keep the cost down and has grown leeps and bounds so far in there 1st season.

An on track autograph session at intermission with the Late Models only allows the crowd a chance to meet and greet the drivers up close and personal on the track.

The Tony Roper Memorial helps honor a great Ozarks area driver who lost his life in a NASCAR Truck Event in Texas as Tony cut his teeth in the area Modified Racing in 1986. The event has been held at Monett but The Speedway decidied to forgo the event moving it to Lebanon Midway.

Not to be outdone with the Late Models, The USRA B Modifieds will be racing for a $777 to win event with $77 to start the A feature. Open draw with passing points to help determine the feature event heads-up. Midwest Modifieds will race for $555 to win, Pure Stocks race for $333 to win and the exciting and popular beginner class of Hornets get another week of $222 to win the feature. These are based on a 13 car entry per class. These are Track points races and USRA National points awarded also.

Grandstand Adult Admission will be only $17 while Adult pit pass prices are $35. Grandstand gates will open at 5PM with hot laps to start at 6:30 and Racing at 7:30. Local class cut-off is set for 7PM. Drivers checking in after that will recieve only heat position points and no advancing bonus points.

Lebanon, Mo.- The Cash Money Dirt Late Model Series will be bringing several of the local talent to The 18th Annual Tony Roper Memorial Sunday Evening to The Lebanon Midway Speedway and no one is more excited than Buffalo's Mark Simon. Simon, the current Bomber point leader at Midway and winner of most full bodied type cars( Street Stocks, Bombers and Pure Stocks) in Southwest Missouri is excited that the Late Model Series rolls into Lebanon Sunday evening. Simon has been competing in the Series this season in his familiar number 23 ranking 7th in the point standings after 3 races, Simon who has logged several laps around Midway and countless wins feels that he might have a liitle advantage come Sunday Night. He has brought the Late Model for some extra practice during the regular shows and has looked impressive in his Waterman Trucking/Simon Transport #23. Simon won The Double Down Asphalt Das at West Plains which includes the top 5 finishers from the previous feature race worth $100.

The whole Series is excited about coming to Midway for The Roper Memorial and is looking at a very strong field of Late Models. This deal has helped reel-in some of the cost, putting us on a shock rule and some of the other things done has helped bring drivers back to Late Model Racing.I know guys like Justin Wells, Leslie Essary, Brandon Hunter and point leader Jon Driskell are tough. In fact we are going be really busy Sunday Night as we will have 2 Late Models racing as B-Mac( Lebanon's Brandon McCormick) will be driving the other car. Brandon is a Lebanon driver and started his racing career in The Sportsman class at Dallas County. He is a driver that felt the cost was out of hand and we feel that with this race at his hometown he needs to be competing. He is a good wheelman and will add to a big list of drivers going to be tough.

More local talent added to the Late Model Competition-Lebanon's Brian Schutt and Shawn Whitman have joined forces to compete in The Cash Money Dirt Series Sunday Night in The Whitman Trucking number 13. Both these drivers have competed against each other in the very tough Street Stock Class. Schutt who was 2nd in the Street Stock Feature on opening night at Midway and won a feature during the Fall Shootout Series last year has Open Late Model experience. This will add another top notch driver competing to grab the Roper Trophy.

Racing action will also feature The USRA S&S U-Pull It Auto Parts B Modifieds paying $777 to win, The Mi-Kel Industries Midwest Modifieds paying $555 to win, The Complete Services Pure Stocks running for $333 to win and The Sing Rental Hornets buzzing around for $222 to win. These payouts are based on a 13 car field Minimum and are track point races. Grandstand gates will open at 5 with Hot laps slated at 6:30 with racing at 7:30. A special autograph Late Model session is scheduled on track at the break.

Lebanon, Mo.- The payout for The Out Pace USRA B Modifieds presented by S&S U Pull It Auto Parts on Sunday Evening at The Lebanon Midway Speedway for The 18th Annual Tony Roper Memorial has turned alot of B Modified drivers heads.

The track will be paying $777 to win the feature event based on a 13 car field Minimum and $500 for the runner-up to help remember and honor The area driver from Fair Grove who started his racing career in Modifieds in 1986 and lost his life in a NASCAR Truck Race at Texas Motor Speedway. No car entry fee and the pit pass cost is only $35 for the night's action which will also include The Cash Money Super Late Models, Midwest Modifieds, Hornets and Pure Stocks.

Track owner Jack Jones of Midway was asked during the off season if he would be interested in holding the event which had been held at Monett Speedway for the last 17 years, however the track with new ownership decided to forgo the event. Tony had started his racing career in Lebanon and Monett on the dirt-tracks before vaulting his career on the Asphalt tracks in 1989. " We were honored that the family wanted to move this event to Lebanon and Midway and want to make this a very exciting race event." quoted owner Jack Jones. When this was offered, we decided to look at what do to and since The Out Pace USRA B Modifieds head-line our Friday night regular shows if only made sense to us to make this a good paying event for that class especially since Tony started his racing in The Modifieds.

I think that the $777 to win and $500 for runner-up and $77 to start the feature should draw some of the top area B Modifieds and with it being a holiday weekend we hope some drivers casing National points will look at this. Currently USRA B Modified National point leader Kris Jackson has called Midway one of his home tracks and has won 4 out of 5 features coming from the back of the pack. His only loss came at the hands of defending champion Tyler Brown as that race went caution free setting-up what fans have called an exciting race and finish.Defending National Champion Ryan " The Kid" Gilmore has the Sunday evening race on his radar also. Gilmore, who is leading The USRA Modified National Standings, will be in Wheatland Thusday-Sat and has The Roper Race on his radar screen. Gilmore has had tough luck at Midway in the past, but his B mod program is different. Gilmore said how the weekend action at Wheatland goes will help make his decision. Former National Champion JC Morton has always ran strong at Midway and has made 1 start this season. The team had raced at Lakeside on a Thursday night program, came to Midway, lost a drive shaft and replaced it to come from the back to a 3rd place finish. The Morton team is always front runners at higher paying events and Veteran driver and one of the original Missouri Modified leaders Rex Merritt is riding off a solid 3rd place finish last Friday Night. When you look at the top 10 in National Standings, they all are from The Southwest Missouri Region. Add to this mix, points runner-up Sam Petty, Tyler Brown, Ricky Watkins, Brian Myers, Tyler Knudtson, Donnie Jackson and Dillon McCowan among others it should be an exciting race and event as several out of town driers are inquiring. For many of these drivers, it isn't all about the money, but to have your name listed as a Roper Winner as drivers from all around are looking at this 1 night payout.

Grandstand Gates will open at 5PM With Adult Admission only $17 for an exciting night of Late Model, B modified, Midwest Modified, Hornet and Pure Stock Racing. Hot laps are currently slated to start at 6:30 with Racing at 7:30. Pit Passes are only $35 with 12 and under $10 in the pits. Draw cut-off is set for 7PM. Passing points are used for determining feature line-up-Heads Up for Support classes and these are Midway Point races Tony Roper Memorial B Mod Payout(based on 13 entries.) 1) 777 2) 500 3) 350 4) 225 5) 175 6) 150 7) 125 8) 100 9-16) 77.
